Do I need to have an internal pelvic floor examination?
No. An internal pelvic floor assessment is not required and is never performed without your informed consent. Your therapist can begin with a conversation, then will assess movement, breathing patterns, posture, hip and core function, and other functional testing. If an internal muscle assessment is necessary to provide additional information on the function of your pelvic floor, your therapist will explain why and discuss options.
