During your first physical therapy visit, you will undergo a comprehensive evaluation by one of our skilled physical therapists. They will assess your condition, review your medical history, and discuss your goals and concerns. Based on this assessment, we will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Your program will focus on helping you achieve your goals and empowering you to get back to doing the things you love at home, at work, and in your community.

Can I continue my physical therapy exercises at home?

Yes, home exercise programs are often a part of outpatient physical therapy. Your therapist will provide you with instructions on exercises and activities that you can safely perform at home to complement your in-clinic treatment. Your therapist may also stay in contact and monitor your home exercise program between visits. Consistently performing your home exercises can help accelerate your progress and improve outcomes.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive outpatient physical therapy?

That depends. Each state has laws that govern access to physical therapy services. Your insurance may also have rules regarding referrals for therapy. Typically, our physical therapists will be able to provide a screen or an evaluation without a physician referral but may need to work with your physician to provide treatment. Please contact your local LHMPTI clinic and our team will help to navigate the referral process, if one is needed.

How can outpatient physical therapy benefit me?

Outpatient physical therapy offers a range of benefits, including pain relief, improved mobility, increased strength and flexibility, enhanced balance and coordination, injury prevention, and overall improvement in quality of life. It is designed to help you recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and regain function and independence.

How do I pay for therapy services?

All out-of-pocket obligations (i.e., copay, coinsurance, deductible) are due at time of service. Payments can be made using a credit card, Health Savings Account (HSA) or by check. LHM Physical Therapy does not accept cash payments. If you receive a statement at the conclusion of therapy, you have several options to pay your outstanding balance. You can make a payment directly at the clinic, mail your payment with the statement coupon, or pay online through the Patient Portal by selecting “Pay My Bill” in the Patients drop-down menu.

How long does each physical therapy session typically last?

The duration of each session can vary depending on your condition and treatment plan. Our outpatient physical therapy sessions typically last 60-75 minutes, but your therapist will determine the appropriate duration for your sessions based on your individual needs.

How many physical therapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your goals, and your progress throughout treatment. Your therapist will discuss and establish a treatment plan with you, including the anticipated number of sessions. It's important to attend all scheduled sessions to maximize the effectiveness of your therapy, allowing you to achieve your goals efficiently and in the expected timeframe.
